Thank you to all the artists that competed in our first annual scholarship competition. The judges final selection was made difficult by the overwhelming response and the high calibre of work submitted.

The Academy of Realist Art has launched its first annual scholarship competition for promising artists with a love for academic style painting and drawing.
ARA is one of a select few art schools in the world that teaches the academic approach to figure drawing and painting. We model our curriculum and classical techniques on those used by 19th-century European academies to help students master fine art skills.
There will be two first prizes awarded for one year's free tuition (valued at $7620 Canadian) for our full-time program: One at ARA Toronto and one at ARA Boston.
Second prize is a two-week workshop of their choosing.
Third prize is a one-week workshop of their choosing (ARA Toronto only).
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Deadline for submission is September 30, 2012. Winners will be announced November, 2012.
This annual Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Elise Hunter Stevenson, an ARA student and dedicated art lover.
Contest Rules
Submissions shall be treated as being free of restrictions and limitations on their use and publication.
Individuals must specify the scholarship location they wish to attend if they are awarded a first prize.
Prizes have no cash surrender value and are not transferrable. Any expenses incurred by the winner(s) to claim the scholarship award(s) are the sole responsibility of the individual.
Eligibility
Entries are accepted from the worldwide artist community. Applicants must be over the age of 18 years and not currently enrolled at the Academy of Realist Art Toronto or Boston. Team entries are not accepted.
Submission Deadline
Deadline for submission is September 30, 2012.
Art Submissions
Submissions of representational art are accepted in the following categories:
Figure • Portrait • Still Life
Art work for figure and portrait may be either a drawing or oil painting. Still life submissions are in oil paint.
All submissions must be original and not a copy of an existing work. Submissions are made by sending 3 to 6 un-retouched JPEG* images.

Entries require a short description in the following format:
artist name - title of work - media - dimensions (expressed in inches)
Submission Fees
A PayPal invoice for $30 Canadian will be issued for your submissions.
Winners will be annonunced November 2012.
