In this three day summer workshop, Miriam Rosenthal will take you step by step through the art of painting flowers from life using wet-on-wet painting method. Working in the alla prima method will give participants the ability to use expressive brushwork and thickness of paint to suggest individual petals while still maintaining a fresh look.
Join us for a 5-day workshop “in the Studio of Velázquez” inspired by the timeless techniques of 17th-century Old Master Diego Velázquez. Discover the methods behind his powerful portraits and evocative figurative works.
In this workshop, participants will work from different live models each day to master the art of Alla Prima portrait painting. Using this direct painting method, students will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating a finished Alla Prima portrait.
Come explore Caravaggio's chiaroscuro approach, starting with his unique tri-tone approach to build the lights and establish the underpainting. Students will learn a specific step-by-step process to achieve an exact copy of a selected study.
