This 2-day workshop focuses on creating colour studies from the live model. Working with a limited palette, participants will learn how to observe and mix accurate colour relationships while paying close attention to light, shadow, hue, and tonal shifts. Through short poses and guided exercises, students will develop their ability to simplify forms and capture the essential colour structure of the figure.

A key part of the workshop is learning how to abstract the model into clear colour tiles. Rather than describing every detail, participants will break the figure into distinct shapes of colour and value, using simplified patches to build a strong visual structure. This approach helps painters see the model more clearly, strengthen composition, and create studies that are both expressive and grounded in observation. This workshop is suitable for painters of all levels, it emphasizes careful observation, colour matching, and building a strong foundation for figure painting.

The class will meet at our studio from 10 am – 4 pm ET each day.

Full workshop price is $425 (model fee included), and a $150 deposit is required to save your easel. The balance will be due on the first day of the workshop.
