In this three day summer workshop, Miriam Rosenthal will take you step by step through the art of floral painting. Students will be working from real flowers using wet-on-wet painting method.
Working in the alla prima method will give participants the ability to use expressive brushwork and thickness of paint to suggest individual petals while still maintaining a fresh look. Flowers being quite intricate in shape and colour while also having a very luminous quality is what makes them difficult to paint. In order to achieve a realistic floral painting, participants will have to pay careful attention to the values as well as being able to judge the subtleties of the temperatures and colours.
This workshop is designed for artists of all levels, from beginners looking to explore a new medium to experienced painters seeking to refine their skills. Participants will have the opportunity to receive personalized feedback and guidance from Miriam, as well as learning from her painting demonstrations throughout the workshop.
Note: We will be providing flowers for this workshop but if you want to bring your own, let us know ahead of time.
This workshop will meet for instruction and critiques at our studio at 10 am – 4pm ET each day
Full workshop price is $450, and a $150 deposit is required to save your easel. The balance will be due on the first day of the workshop.
