Join artist Robyn Asquini for a three-day workshop exploring the techniques of the French Impressionists. Discover how Monet, Morisot, Degas, and Cassatt used loose brushwork, bold colour contrasts, and expressive mark-making to capture light, movement, and atmosphere. Influenced by the Old European Masters yet breaking from academic tradition, these artists developed a new visual language for depicting people, environments, and the experience of modern life.

Through a presentation and live demonstration, participants will study the techniques of these influential artists while working on a master copy throughout the course. Emphasis will be placed on colour mixing, painting with energy and fluidity, and creating depth, volume, and form without overworking details.

Robyn’s use of colour and composition in her personal work is strongly influenced by the Impressionist movement. She will share how these principles inform her painting practice, as well as how Impressionist ideas continue to influence contemporary artists today.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a stronger understanding of how light, line, volume, form, and colour work together within the Impressionist approach. They will leave with practical techniques that can be applied directly to their own paintings and personal artistic practice.

Robyn Asquini is a graduate of the Academy of Realist Art and an Art Renewal Centre (ARC) Associate Living Master. She has won numerous awards for her paintings from the Society of Canadian Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists, Canadian Portrait Society, and the Art Renewal Center. She is represented by Roberts Gallery in Toronto and is exhibiting work at Robert Lange Studios, Modern Eden, and James Baird Gallery. Her work is held in private collections internationally.

The class will meet in our studio from 10 am–4 pm each day.

Full workshop price is $450, and a $150 deposit is required to save your spot. The balance will be due on the first day of the workshop.
