In this immersive three-day workshop, participants will have the unique opportunity to delve deeply into the study of drapery, light, and texture—essential elements of classical oil painting. A special focus will be given to understanding how fabric drapes over the human form, capturing the interplay between the soft folds of material and the underlying structure of the body. Under the expert guidance of instructor John Newton, students will be led through a comprehensive, step-by-step process designed to enhance their understanding and skills in the fundamentals of designing drapery. Through hands-on practice and detailed demonstrations, participants will learn to depict the subtle nuances of fabric as it interacts with light and shape, bringing their paintings to life with realism and depth.
The class will meet at our studio from 10 am – 4 pm ET each day.
Full workshop price is $450, and a $150 deposit is required to save your spot. The balance will be due on the first day of the workshop.
